Underpinning

This domestic property in Farnham, Surrey, had shallow foundations and a leaking drain had washed away the load-bearing strata. The foundations had to be extended onto undisturbed ground. Sections of foundations were tackled in 1m portions. First they were excavated, then concrete was poured and allowed to shrink before being dry packed.

A final sand/cement packing was placed between the top of the new concrete and the underside of the existing footing. Depths up to 3m can be achieved by this method.

Finally, the faulty drain was renewed.

We were appointed by the insurance company and provided it with a 12 year guarantee on completion of the works.
