250mm diameter

The builder on this site in Kingston, Surrey, commenced his construction programme by attempting to dig conventional trench fill foundations. Unfortunately, due to the clay and the location of trees, the Local Authority building inspector required them to dig deeper or opt for an engineered foundation solution. From both economic and safety perspectives the deep trenches proved unfeasible when compared to piled foundations.

We were contacted and provided a detailed design which was submitted successfully to the Local Authority. We then installed 10 auger bored piles of 250mm diameter to depths of 10m and subsequently installed the ground beams. The builder then constructed his sleeper walls and placed his beam and block floor. Our short lead-in period and the fact that the work on site took only two weeks enabled the builder to get back on timetable. We provided the client with a 12 year insurance-backed guarantee for the completed works.

On this site in Chobam, Surrey, we first installed a contiguous wall using our Soilmec cm 48 and then used our smaller equipment to place the bearing piles in the bottom of the new basement once the area had been excavated.

This facilitated excavation for the client, a local developer, avoiding the risk of pile damage and of extra costs for any unnecessary piling length.
