| We carried out this project in Dartford, Kent, to provide a ground bearing raft for a new industrial building. It demonstrates typical reinforcement and shuttering for a slab before concrete placement.
This method was used as the top 1-2m of strata was of a suitable bearing type whilst the underlying material was too weak to take conventional trench fill foundations
This domestic property in Hertfordshire required a piled raft for a replacement conservatory being built on highly shrinkable clay. We were appointed directly by the loss adjusters and provided a 12 year insurance backed guarantee on completion of the 18 250mm diameter auger bored piles and the reinforced concrete raft.
The piles were installed using a heave sleeve to reduce the potential effects of clay heave on the piles and the slab was formed using ‘clayboard’ which degrades beneath to leave a clear space between the reduced level excavation and the underside of the slab to provide room for further clay heave.
