Services - Successful Projects

This property in Maidenhead, Berkshire, was suffering from subsidence. We were approached by a structural engineer and worked together to develop an engineered foundation solution.

Our team used a restricted access auger piling machine to create a network of small diameter, auger bored piles in the underlying chalk. A new reinforced concrete slab was constructed on these piles, which protruded underneath the external and internal walls to divorce the structure from its original foundations. Dry packing was then placed between the top of the new slab and the underside of the existing brickwork.

On this contract we were appointed as main contractor and carried out duties including preparation, meeting protection and health and welfare requirements, and site reinstatement.

Works were completed in three months.

This mill house in Albury, Surrey, required the existing basement floor to be lowered to create additional space for a habitable room.

We first carried out a detailed engineering design for submission to the Local Authority then 120 219mm steel cased driven piles were installed inside and outside the property to depths of 5m–6m into the water bearing sands. A reinforced concrete raft was then constructed linking all the piles together, continuing on under and through the existing foundations to connect with the external piles. Once the slab was cast, a dry pack was used to produce a tight joint between the new and the old foundations.

Works took three months to complete and were carried out for a regional contractor. All works carried out by us were supported with a 12 year insurance-backed guarantee.
